DVD SOUND
[ DVD BENEFITS ] [ DVD APPLICATIONS ] [ DVD VIDEO ] [ DVD SOUND ]
The three primary audio formats for DVD are PCM (pulse code modulated), Dolby Digital (AC-3), and MPEG. The DVD format supports up to eight independent audio streams on a single disc. For example, a specific video track can have audio commentary in English on one track, Spanish on another, etc. Or, several music choices could be available for a viewer to choose from.
Sound for DVD-Video usually uses Dolby Digital. This can be mono, stereo, Dolby Surround, or 5.1 surround. We can encode to any of these formats, depending on the nature of your master material.
DVD can also use PCM digital sound in mono or stereo.
DVD is an ideal format for showcasing music. For demos, in-store music video compilations, bars and hospitality venues, anywhere that superb digital sound - up to 5.1 surround - is required.
Once again, the menu-driven capability gives another dimension to any collection of audio or video clips.
DVD Audio Facts:
- DVD-Video players can also play audio CDs.
- DVD offers superior digital sound over VHS, including Dolby Digital™, Dolby Surround™ and AC-3.
- Your DVD will look and sound as good in 100 years as it does today.
