What will it look like?

Your Biography is a professionally produced television-style documentary.  Its format is much like what you see everyday on the major networks, with narration, interviews, family home movies, archival pictures and location photography.  With the use pf broadcast-quality equipment, subtle & elegant special effects, music and graphics, you’ll think you’re watching a network-produced show.  The major differences are:

• There are no commercials (unless you want them)
• You decide the subject matter (there's no TV network to answer to)

The length can be adjusted to your liking (so can the budget!)

Who's included?

Anyone you want!  We can interview the immediate family, close friends, or even first grade teachers!  The amount of detail put into your Biography is up to you.  The Executive Producer (that’s you) decides how far back we delve into the subject’s history! 

If desired, the subject need not be interviewed.  We’ve even produced documentaries posthumously.  If you do want to include an interview with the subject, that's fine too.  You make the call!

Can it be a surprise?

Absolutely!  The subject doesn't need to know.  Many of our productions do not include an interview with the subject.  If the video is a surprise, and you do want to include the subject's interview, we have, in the past, been able to get them to go on camera thinking that they are the only interview in the story. 

Who will host?

Usually, local voice professionals or local sports & entertainment celebrities will be utilized.  However, Maverick Productions, LLC. has the ability to inquire about the availability of almost anyone.  If your budget allows, we can find out whether your subject’s favorite sports hero or TV star may be interested in appearing.  You'd be surprised how many would consider an appearance.

How much does it cost?

Your Biography is a real, broadcast-quality production; and it has a real production budget.  This budget can vary greatly depending on how much work is done.  The amount of detail to be included greatly affects research, shooting, writing, etc.  Because this is a custom production, the price can vary.  The people working on your Biography are real video & digital media professionals.  The equipment is state of the art.  The quality of our work has won us numerous local, national & international awards.  Average production costs range from $300 to $400 per completed minute.

The Structure of a Biography

Maverick Productions, LLC. is a video & digital media production company that creates Biographies for people who wish to preserve a life or company story.

A Biography is told through interviews, photographs, voice-over narration, and music. These projects may also include letters, trophies, old movie footage, or any other memento that helps tell the story.

More than a photo album or memoirs, a Biography captures the essence of a person or company and the stories of their time.  We will be creating a living record for the generations that follow.  

When you hire Maverick Productions, LLC. to produce your Biography, you are hiring a talented group of filmmakers to carefully document the most significant events and elements of a person's life, or company's history, and weave them into a compelling narrative.

The process of creating your Biography can be described in these 5 basic steps:

Step 1.) Contact Maverick Productions, LLC.

·        Give us a call or send us an email and tell us whom you would like to create a family history video about!  

·        During this call, we can give you a general idea of what can be done, as well as set up a time for your pre-interview.

Note:  Maverick Productions, LLC. may be contracted to produce a biography about a person of any age, living or deceased.

Step 2.) Pre-Interview

·        This session may be conducted in person, or over the phone.

·        During the Pre-Interview we talk to you and/or your friends, family & co-workers and discuss which of the most significant events of the subject(s) life should be included in the program; and who will appear in the on-camera Interview.

·        In addition, we work with you to select the photographs, music and other elements that will be used to tell the story of your history. 

·        The final program will likely require between 100 and 150 photographs, and the music may be chosen for its special meaning to the person, or a certain time in their lives.

·        We can easily accommodate the use of other elements such as letters, news clippings, trophies, slides and home video footage. 

·        Arrangements can be made for the transfer of 8mm, Super8 and/or 16mm film.

·        At the end of the Pre-Interview stage we schedule the on-camera Interviews.

Step 3.) Interviews

·        The interviews may be done at our studio, your home or any other meaningful indoor or outdoor location.  We will set up our camera, lighting and sound equipment, and conduct the Interview.

·        A successful Interview is at the heart of a compelling family history video; and we will make any accommodation necessary to ensure that everyone who appears on-camera feels relaxed and comfortable.  Many people find that the idea of being interviewed in front of a camera seems daunting at first but, once they sit down and start talking, they are surprised at how natural it feels, much like having a conversation.

·        In circumstances where a person does not wish to appear in an on-camera interview, conducting an off-camera interview and using their testimony in the voice-over narration can create an equally moving biography.

Step 4.) Post-Production

·        The story comes to life when we return to our facility and write and record voice-over narration to be edited and mixed with the Interview footage, photographs, music and other elements.

·        As soon as the final script is completed, a preliminary copy is sent to you for review, ensuring that there are no factual errors or misrepresentations.

Step 5.) Duplication & Delivery

·        The entire process will take from 4-6 weeks from the time that the Interviews are scheduled.  Rush deliveries may be available; but you’ll have to inquire on an individual basis.

·        After the final script has been approved, we create a customized packaging design and call you to pick up the tape.  You will receive one VHS copy of the production, but you will be able to order as many copies as you desire.

·        DVD copies are also available, with several menu, chapter & packaging choices available.
